Scabble game night supports literacy volunteers (And round-trip plane tickets to Boston will be raffled)
ROCKLAND ? Come join in the fun at Literacy Volunteers of Mid-Coast Maine's first annual Scrabble Maine-e-ah fund-raiser, a game night planned for 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Rockland District High School on Broadway.
Individuals or teams are encouraged to pre-register at $10 per person, but tickets will also be available at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be prizes for individual and team winners, as well as a Scrabble Maine-e-ah Corporate Cup for the winning business team. Players at all skill levels are welcome, from novice to expert. Players will be matched with others of similar skills.
To add to the fun of playing this world-famous game there will be some special rules, as players will be able to purchase additional Scrabble tiles or a dictionary peek as needed during their games. And there will be a drawing after the intermission for two round-trip airplane tickets from Owls Head to Boston, donated by Cape Air. Raffle tickets are $10 each or three for $25, and can be purchased when you register or at the event. And refreshments will be available for purchase, to feed the mind!
Several local businesses have already signed on to support Scrabble Maine-e-ah. We are grateful to sponsors Broadreach, Camden National Bank, and Cape Air; and to supporters Allen Financial Group, Caravans, Eastern Tire, Jonathan Frost Gallery, Leisure Maine, Owls Head General Store, The Country Inn and RAYR-The Wine Shop.
